BOKBOK TECHPROPOSAL · MELIÁ PICKLEBALL COURT

Meliá Pickleball Court

Our proposal is to spend a little more on one properly built court that Meliá can charge for, rather than a basic court offered for free.

Why we cannot quote yet

A firm price depends on the condition of the existing floor. We need a site inspection before we can give an accurate quotation.

Rough estimate
600–1,000 THB/m²

Preparation + court system, depending on surface condition.

~400 THB
Realistic hourly rate, if built properly

Coaching as an additional income stream
~3 kg/m²
Acrylic system — considerably lighter than rubber roll-out
19.5 × 9.5 m
185.5 m² recommended total court system

Reference: Acrylic court system — this represents the level of finish and playing quality we would aim to achieve. The acrylic system would only be applied to the playing and run-off areas. The surrounding space could either retain and repurpose the existing artificial turf or simply clean and leave the existing underlying surface.

Space Check: The playing court is 13.4 × 6.1 m, excluding the surrounding run-off area. For a high-quality recreational setup, we recommend a total area of approximately 19.5 × 9.5 m (185.5 m²), providing around 3 m of clearance behind each baseline and 2 m from the nearest side barrier.
01

Feasibility first

Before committing, we need to check whether the space and existing foundation can support a good court — safety, spacing, playing surface and drainage. We can have a technician inspect the site and advise what is realistically possible.

02

Weight is not the issue

As a general guideline, an acrylic court system is around 3 kg/m² — considerably lighter than the rubber roll-out system originally proposed. (To be confirmed and verified by a court technician.)

03

Indicative cost

A proper quote depends on the condition of the existing floor. As a rough range, 600–1,000 THB/m² covers preparation and the court system, depending on how much prep the surface needs.

04

Timeline

Acrylic systems are sensitive to moisture and water. While it is possible to install during the rainy season, we advise waiting until after to ensure the best adhesion and longevity of the court. It would help to know when you would ideally like the court completed, so we can advise what schedule is realistic.

05

Sun orientation

Sun Orientation: The sun alignment is not ideal throughout the year, with varying degrees of glare depending on the season and time of day. The image shown is a reference for 31 December, which falls during the high season and illustrates one of the more challenging periods. On this day, the sun aligns closely with the playing axis, creating significant glare and substantially limiting the hours of quality play. There is no realistic or budget-friendly way to change the court orientation given the available space, so sun glare should be considered an inherent limitation of the site and acknowledged from the outset.

06

Perceived safety

Although we understand that the current glass side barriers are designed to withstand significant impact, players may still perceive them as a safety concern. There are ways to mitigate this risk, but it should be identified as an area of consideration, particularly in relation to customer confidence and overall satisfaction.

Revenue outlook

Based on ~2 hours of paid play per day

800 THB
Daily revenue (2 hours × 400 THB)
24,000 THB
Monthly revenue, 30 days
292,000 THB
Yearly revenue, simple average

Events, coaching and clinics can add to this baseline.

Our commitment

We want to be transparent: if the space cannot support a high-quality court, we will say so openly rather than recommend something that does not meet our standards.

We respect either decision

And if you prefer the simpler free-court option, we can still connect you with contractors who will do the best possible job within that approach.

Next step

A short site inspection. From there we can confirm feasibility, a firm price and a realistic completion date.
